American rap metal band Limp Bizkit performed in Istanbul after a 14-year break, taking the stage at Atakoy Marina Arena. The concert, organized by iTicket Production and TemaCC, attracted strong interest from fans eager to see one of the defining names of the nu metal movement, a subgenre of alternative metal that blends heavy guitar riffs with elements of hip-hop.
The band played some of its best-known songs, including "My Way," "Nookie," "Behind Blue Eyes," and "Break Stuff."
Fans joined in throughout the show, singing along to the choruses that marked the group’s global rise in the late 1990s and early 2000s. At one point, lead vocalist Fred Durst invited a fan from the crowd to perform "Full Nelson" together, adding a personal touch to the night.
During the performance, Durst told the audience that they had once been told they might never return to Istanbul. “But here we are. I love Istanbul. The people and the food are amazing,” he said, drawing loud cheers from the crowd. The concert lasted about one and a half hours.
Formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994, Limp Bizkit is made up of Fred Durst on vocals, John Otto on drums, Wes Borland on guitar, DJ Lethal on turntables, and Sam Rivers on bass.
Known for their aggressive sound and Borland’s elaborate stage appearance with masks and body paint, the band quickly moved from underground popularity to mainstream success.
Their breakthrough came with "Significant Other" (1999), "Chocolate Starfish" and the "Hotdog Flavored Water" (2000). With hits such as "Rollin’" (Air Raid Vehicle), "Take a Look Around," and "My Generation," they became one of the most recognizable names in nu metal.
Despite controversies and lineup changes over the years, the band has sold around 40 million records worldwide and earned multiple Grammy nominations. Their most recent album was released in 2021.
