The acclaimed manga artist behind the award-winning series "Madoka Magica," known globally for its impact on Japanese animation, is preparing to meet readers for the first time in Türkiye during a two-day program on Dec. 13-14 at the Tuyap International Istanbul Book Fair.
The visit of Hanokage, one of Japan’s leading manga artists, has drawn international attention because it marks her first physical public appearance anywhere in the world, including Japan. The artist, who maintains anonymity and is known for concealing her face, will host fans in a specially designed secure area at Tuyap, where she will interact with readers in person for the first time in her career.
Organizers expect a large turnout over the two-day program, bringing together cosplayers, influencers and long-time Madoka Magica followers who have shaped an active fan culture around the series.
The first day of the program will feature a limited-capacity signing session that will allow visitors to meet Hanokage, speak with her and have their books signed.
The event will also showcase specially prepared commemorative stamps and a set of limited-edition collectible boxes produced exclusively for this occasion.
The second day will focus on a manga workshop presented by Dr. Erdal Kucukyalcin, head of the Japanese Art Center. During this session, Hanokage will teach Japanese drawing techniques and guide participants through selected works submitted in advance.
The artist will comment on these pieces live on stage, offering young illustrators a rare opportunity to learn directly from her creative approach.
