Swiss musician Jodok Cello brings classical music, pop hits and iconic film soundtracks together at Istanbul's Ataturk Cultural Center.

Swiss cellist Jodok Vuille, widely known as Jodok Cello, performed his first major solo concert in Türkiye at the Ataturk Cultural Center (AKM) in Istanbul, treating audiences to a program that brought together classical compositions, popular songs and memorable film soundtracks.

Organized by Piu Entertainment, the concert took place at the cultural center's Turk Telekom Opera Hall, where Vuille performed his cello arrangements of works by internationally renowned artists, including Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish and Ludovico Einaudi.

Among the evening's highlights was his interpretation of "Simarik," a hit by Turkish pop star Tarkan, alongside recognizable themes from "Titanic," "Mission: Impossible" and "Game of Thrones."

Swiss cellist praises Turkish hospitality and cuisine

Between performances, Vuille spoke with the audience about his admiration for Türkiye and its culture, highlighting the country's hospitality as one of its defining qualities.

"Everyone around the world loves Türkiye, not only because of your rich culture and history, but also because Turkish people are so warm and hospitable," he said.

The musician also opened up about his enthusiasm for Turkish cuisine, singling out doner kebab, a popular dish made with meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie, and baklava, a layered pastry dessert, as particular favorites.

From childhood cello lessons to social media success

Vuille, who began learning the cello at the age of 6, also performed original pieces inspired by the natural beauty and tranquility of Lucerne, Switzerland.

Reflecting on his career, he recalled how a social media post helped him reach a much wider audience after Irish actor Pierce Brosnan liked and shared one of his performances.

According to Vuille, the unexpected recognition came when he had relatively few followers and helped him gain hundreds of thousands of new followers in a short period.

The nearly two-hour concert wrapped up with prolonged applause from the audience.
