Jason Sudeikis says he would like more seasons of "Ted Lasso," a show about an American football coach hired to manage an English soccer club, but whether the hit comedy gets a fifth and sixth season is still an open question.

The actor and co-creator, who once believed the series would wrap up after its third season, said there is no writers’ room and no firm plan for new episodes.

Sudeikis discussed the show's future on the podcast "Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso."

He said he "would like to" continue, but added, "it takes a village." Asked whether Apple, the show’s streaming home, would be receptive, he said, "I would assume so." Pressed on whether more episodes are coming, he said, "I just don’t know," and then added, "We haven’t started a writers’ room or anything like that."

No concept for Season 4, yet show came back

Fragoso noted that Sudeikis had no idea for a fourth season before making it, and was creatively drained after the third. The host asked whether the same process could produce two more seasons.

"We’re going to need a bigger cup," Sudeikis joked.

He did not rule it out, though. After a long break following Season 3, he said he kept hearing the voices of the show’s characters in his head. Then, he said, "Other new voices started to show up." Those, he explained, were the voices of the women on the team in Season 3.

"I think it’d be fun," Sudeikis said.

"Ted Lasso" debuted on Apple TV+ in 2020 and stars Jason Sudeikis as an American college football coach hired to run an English Premier League club. It began as a 2013 NBC Sports promo sketch, went on to win the Emmy for outstanding comedy series in 2021 and 2022, and earned Sudeikis the lead actor in a comedy Emmy both years.

Sudeikis co-created it with Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, and the cast includes Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Hunt and Nick Mohammed.
