Actor Haydar Koyel will extend his run in international productions by returning for the third season of the Irish series "Kin," where he will once again star alongside fellow Turkish actress Oyku Karayel.
The production, created by Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly, has been airing since 2021. Koyel, who played the character "Hazim Atkas" in the show's second season, will appear in front of the camera in the same role for the third season as well.
Koyel said he was very happy to be called back for the third season after a three-year gap, stating, "Being part of such a successful project again is exciting in itself. Being in the same project with actors like Oyku Karayel and Kenan Ece, whom I admire greatly and whose work I follow with great appreciation, was a special joy for me. Now I'm also looking forward to being in front of the camera together with Oyku in the scenes that will be filmed in Mallorca."
Koyel, who said he finds it very valuable that actors from Türkiye have started to take part in more international projects, said, "I think this situation shows that the level of acting in our country is also finding recognition around the world. We have so many talented actors, each in their own way.
''All of us are trying to represent our country by doing our best in different projects. It's a source of pride for all of us that Turkish actors are becoming more visible in international productions. I hope these projects increase and more of our actors become part of stories on a global scale," he added.
As preparations for the new season of the series, starring Charlie Cox, Clare Dunne, Aidan Gillen, Emmett J. Scanlan, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Sam Keeley, and Ciaran Hinds, are underway, Haydar Koyel and Oyku Karayel, who joined the cast in the second season, will continue their roles as members of the Turkish crime family.
Focusing on family ties and the world of organized crime, the series is considered one of the most prominent Irish shows on the international stage in recent years, thanks to its strong cast and high production quality.
After premiering on RTE, the series was acquired by the BBC and made available to viewers on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
Centered on the story of the Kinsella crime family living in Dublin, the series brings to the screen the power struggle and conflicts between the two families as a Turkish crime family operating in Ireland becomes entangled in the plot during the second season.
