Türkiye will host a nationwide Cinema Festival on Sept. 27-28, giving movie lovers across the country the chance to watch films at a symbolic flat rate. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism confirmed that all tickets will be sold for ₺80 (approximately $2) during the two-day campaign.
Birol Guven, director general of cinema at the ministry, announced that screenings will take place in 80 cities, covering nearly 1,500 movie theaters. By fixing the ticket price, the festival aims to attract a broader audience to cinemas, many of which have faced challenges in recent years due to rising costs and competition from online streaming platforms.
In his statement on the U.S.-based social media platform X, Guven emphasized the importance of the traditional movie-going experience.
He noted that the campaign offers a unique opportunity to enjoy stories on the big screen, saying: “Films are best enjoyed in cinemas. This is a very good chance to savor the magic of the silver screen.”
The Cinema Festival, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, represents a broader effort to strengthen Türkiye’s cultural calendar and encourage audiences to reconnect with communal film viewing.
The event is expected to bring new energy to cinemas across the country, from metropolitan cities to regional towns, as tickets are made equally affordable nationwide.
