Kristen Stewart will reunite with French director Olivier Assayas on "Spiritual World," a new project that returns Assayas to the supernatural territory of their 2016 collaboration, "Personal Shopper."
Playing Ada, a haunted young woman with clairvoyant powers who is visited by mysterious premonitions, Stewart will be joined by an international ensemble that includes Vicky Krieps, Riley Keough, Wagner Moura, Niels Schneider and Barbara Sukowa.
The film is being produced by Curiosa Films' Olivier Delbosc and ARTE France, with shooting scheduled for February through April 2027 in France and Germany. Ion Cinema describes it as Stewart's third project with Assayas, after "Clouds of Sils Maria" and "Personal Shopper."
Beyond her upcoming reunion with Olivier Assayas, Kristen Stewart has set her first major TV lead role as pioneering astronaut Dr. Sally Ride in Amazon Prime Video's limited series "The Challenger."
The drama centers on Ride's historic spaceflight as the first American woman in space, as well as her crucial work on the presidential commission investigating the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger explosion.
On the big screen, the actress starred in the indie stoner comedy "The Wrong Girls." Written and directed by Dylan Meyer in her feature directorial debut, the film stars Stewart and Alia Shawkat as two codependent best friends whose lives descend into chaos after a case of mistaken identity.
The comedy features a supporting cast that includes LaKeith Stanfield, Tony Hale, Geena Davis, and voice roles from Seth Rogen and Kumail Nanjiani.
"Spiritual World" marks Stewart's third major feature project with Assayas, continuing an acclaimed partnership that began with 2014’s "Clouds of Sils Maria," a performance that made Stewart the first American actress to win a Cesar Award.
They built on that success with the 2016 supernatural drama "Personal Shopper," which earned Assayas the Best Director prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
