Local and foreign media representatives visiting the International Media Center for the NATO summit in Ankara were greeted by two white Ankara cats, mother Lokum and her kitten Ak Kiz, at the Presidential National Library.
Lokum was seen calmly sitting in the arms of a staff member as visitors stopped to greet her. The scene gave the busy press center a quieter moment amid summit coverage.
Media members gathered around Lokum and Ak Kiz, taking photos and recording videos as the cats moved through the International Media Center. Their presence quickly drew interest from journalists working at the venue.
The cats are Ankara cats, widely known in Europe as Angora cats. Their white coats and calm behavior stood out inside the press center, where reporters and camera teams were covering the NATO summit.
Ak Kiz was photographed in close-up as she looked toward the camera. The kitten’s appearance became one of the more eye-catching scenes from the press area.
The cats were introduced as friendly animals from the Presidential Complex. Lokum and Ak Kiz moved among visitors at the media center while journalists continued their work.
Lokum and Ak Kiz also appeared near microphones and broadcast cameras. Reporters used the moment as a light visual break inside the International Media Center.
By the end of the visit, Lokum and Ak Kiz had emerged as a warm visual highlight of the NATO summit, blending the backdrop of international media coverage with a local symbol of Turkish culture.
