Antalya and Kusadasi beaches become a refuge from heat

As temperatures soared across Türkiye's coastal regions this week, residents and tourists alike sought refuge from the intense heat by heading straight to the country's most popular beaches.

In Antalya, people overwhelmed by the scorching conditions flocked to the shoreline, diving into the sea in search of relief from the summer heat.

According to data from the 4th Regional Directorate of Meteorology, Antalya recorded an air temperature of 31 degrees Celsius, with seawater reaching 29 degrees Celsius and humidity levels climbing to 54%.

Both local residents and visiting tourists in Antalya packed the sands of Konyaalti and Lara beaches, taking to the water to escape the oppressive heat.

While many chose to swim, others opted for a more relaxed approach, stretching out on sun loungers along the beach to soak up the summer atmosphere.

In the lively Varyant area of Antalya, groups of young people turned the heat into an opportunity for fun, leaping from the rocks into the cool waters below.

Elsewhere along the coast, families set up camping chairs directly by the shoreline, creating makeshift spots to enjoy the sea breeze throughout the day.

Further along the coast in Aydin province, the beaches of Kusadasi, one of Türkiye's key tourism hubs, saw a similar influx of visitors seeking to beat the heat.

Temperatures in Kusadasi climbed to 30 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels rising to 70%, prompting both domestic and international tourists to head for the water.

The district's most popular beaches, including Kadinlar Denizi and Kustur, became especially crowded as visitors sought relief from the combination of heat and humidity.

While some tourists cooled off directly in the sea, others chose to relax beneath beach umbrellas, taking shelter from the sun as the summer heat continued to grip the region.
