Known locally as "kirk gozeler" (40 springs), Tomara Waterfall is drawing growing crowds to Türkiye's Gumushane province, with visitors flocking to immerse themselves in nature as water emerges from 40 separate points and merges before cascading down a 15-meter (49-foot) drop.
Located in Seydibaba village, part of Gumushane's Siran district, Tomara Waterfall is one of the prominent tourism destinations in the eastern Black Sea region.
Visitors arriving at Tomara Waterfall Nature Park, located 130 kilometers (81 miles) from the provincial center and 14 kilometers from the district center, sample the water flowing from the springs and cool off by dipping their feet in the water at suitable spots.
Siran Mayor Abdulbaki Kara said in a statement that Tomara Waterfall is one of the region's key tourism destinations, with visitor numbers increasing every year.
Noting that interest has been especially high due to temperatures above seasonal norms, Kara said, "Nearly every part of our Siran district has now started gaining value in terms of tourism. Most of our visitors come from within roughly 200 kilometers.
In addition to day-trip visitors from Sivas, Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun, Rize, Erzincan, Bayburt and the districts of these provinces, we also host tours organized by national tour companies."
Kara noted that the Tomara Waterfall Culture and Tourism Festival, last held in 2018, will be organized again this year on Aug. 7-8.
Visitor Husniye Akcay said she had seen the waterfall online before visiting, adding, "This place is very beautiful. We're glad we came. The air is cool too. I recommend it to everyone."
Ismail Findik, who came to the city with his family, said they were very impressed by the natural surroundings, noting that he was practically mesmerized by the scenery he encountered.
