The hobby zoo, established within Isirlik Nature Park in Rize and home to more than 750 animals from over 40 species, has opened its doors to visitors.
The facility, created by the Rize Municipality, houses a variety of animals, including horses, ostriches, goats, ducks, ponies, roe deer, birds of prey, different species of pigeons and ornamental chickens.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the provincial governor said the municipality has carried out work that sets an example in the field of social municipal services.
Noting that the facility is particularly important for students, the governor said: “Children will see most of the animals together that they often cannot see in nature and only encounter on social media or on a computer. This will also serve as an educational facility.”
A local lawmaker said the city has gained an important social space, adding: “God willing, we will continue to strengthen this place. Our municipality truly places a very serious value on it.”
The lawmaker said they will continue to support the development of the facility, noting that they are working to contribute to the municipality and create resources for the site through support that may be provided by the central government.
Another lawmaker drew attention to the fact that Isirlik Nature Park is an important destination, saying the facility will serve not only Rize but also tourists visiting the city.
The mayor said the Hobby Zoo, which the municipality launched to raise awareness, is home to more than 750 animals from over 40 species.
