The Zero Waste Festival, organized under the theme “Efficiency in Energy, Transformation for the Future,” continues to attract significant public interest at Ataturk Airport.
The festival features a wide range of activities aimed at promoting sustainable living and responsible resource management.
Workshops designed for children and young people encourage participants to create toys and works of art from recycled materials, while environmental games, competitions, and interactive educational programs provide opportunities to learn about waste reduction and recycling.
A special children's theater performance titled "Trash Atlas" introduced young audiences to the principles of zero waste through an engaging and educational storyline.
The production sought to raise environmental awareness among children while emphasizing the importance of protecting natural resources.
The festival also includes the Zero Waste Kitchen, an educational and experiential space dedicated to raising awareness about food waste.
Through practical demonstrations and expert-led sessions, the initiative offers training for both adults and children, encouraging more sustainable consumption habits and responsible food management.
The festival also showcases the role of art and innovation in sustainability. Concerts by the Palet Turkish Music Ensemble and Fungistanbul are being performed using instruments made from recycled materials, highlighting creative approaches to reuse and environmentally conscious production.
Among the key events scheduled for the day are 'A Conversation with Sertac Abi' and a performance by the internationally renowned Recycled Orchestra of Cateura. Turkish musicians Sinan Akcil and Emre Aydin are also set to perform as part of the festival program.
Held under the patronage of Emine Erdogan, chair of the United Nations High-Level Advisory Board on Zero Waste and Honorary President of the Zero Waste Foundation, the festival is organized by the Zero Waste Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
Running through June 7, the festival offers a comprehensive program covering renewable energy technologies, artificial intelligence-supported applications, recycling initiatives, and sustainable transportation solutions.
Visitors are also able to assess their environmental impact through carbon and water footprint measurement stations.
