Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has secured her third Guinness World Record after official confirmation that her record breaking jollof rice event in Lagos also qualifies as the largest rice serving ever prepared.
The recognition arrived months after the original record announcement and elevates Baci into a rare category of multi title Guinness record holders.
The confirmation has drawn attention across Africa’s culinary scene and social media communities. It also highlights Nigeria’s growing presence in global food culture through headline making public cooking events.
Guinness World Records verified that Hilda Baci and food brand Gino achieved the largest serving of rice on September 12, 2025 in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The rice weighed 8,780 kilograms. Guinness confirmed that the attempt first targeted the largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice. Later review showed the same event also met criteria for the largest serving of rice overall.
Guinness listed the achievement in its official records with the statement that the largest serving of rice weighed 8,780 kilograms and was achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos on September 12, 2025.
Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering for the Records Creative Team, sent Baci a confirmation email that praised her achievement and explained that Guinness awarded the second record after comparing record guidelines.
In the message he wrote, “It has come to our attention when comparing record guidelines of the two record titles that when you and your team attempted and achieved ‘Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice’ you also achieved the record title of ‘Largest serving of rice’ so you have been proactively awarded this record title too.”
Baci shared the email on Instagram and said she learned about the additional record months after the initial confirmation. She wrote, “Woke up a three time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.”
She described the moment as shocking and emotional and said she found the email during her normal morning routine. She explained that she believed the team had broken one record and later discovered they had broken two on the same day.
She credited her business partner Oreoluwa Atinmo and her wider team for the result and said the journey and vision would not have been possible without close collaboration from idea to execution. She added, “This journey, this vision, and this record would not have been possible without her. We did this together. From idea to execution, side by side, fully aligned.”
This new recognition marks Baci’s third Guinness World Record.
Her first title came in May 2023 for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. Her second title was awarded in September 2025 for the largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice. The latest confirmation now adds the largest serving of rice overall to her record list.
Nigerian media reported that the 8,780 kilogram jollof rice serving could feed more than 16,600 people. Guinness verified the jollof rice record in mid September 2025. The additional category confirmation followed in January 2026 after internal review by Guinness record teams.
Baci said she felt gratitude toward her team and supporters. She called the moment a meaningful way to step into the new year. She described the recognition as a reminder that there can be more achievements even when a goal already seems complete.
The event reinforces how large scale food challenges now function as cultural moments in Nigeria.
Baci’s records combine culinary craft with public spectacle and strong brand collaboration. The Lagos event also placed Nigerian jollof rice at the centre of international food conversation.
For global audiences unfamiliar with jollof rice, the record attempt introduced West African cooking traditions through a globally recognised platform. Guinness World Records provided verification and global visibility. Baci’s social media reach then amplified the story across international lifestyle and entertainment coverage.
The recognition also shows how food entrepreneurship and personal branding intersect in modern culinary careers. Baci did not only cook. She built a team operation, partnered with a major food brand, organised a mass event, and delivered documentation that met Guinness standards.
