The lawyer for Turkish actress Ece Irtem has denied claims that her mother gave a police statement referring to alcohol and antidepressant medication after the 35-year-old actress was found dead at her home in Kadikoy, Istanbul.

Irtem, known for playing Isil in the Turkish television drama "Kizilcik Serbeti," internationally referred to as "One Love," died at home while her mother was with her, according to earlier information shared by her lawyer, Ugur Gokkoyun.

Initial findings suggested that Irtem may have died of a heart attack, but the final cause of death is expected to be clarified after the autopsy process is completed.

Lawyer rejects reported statement claims

The denial came after the Show TV program "Cansu Canan ile Yeni Sayfa" (New Page with Cansu Canan) claimed that it had obtained a police statement from Irtem's mother, Nuriye Irtem.

The report alleged that the mother had told police her daughter had consumed alcohol and used strong antidepressant medication before her death. However, the family lawyer rejected those claims, saying Nuriye Irtem had not yet given a statement.

According to the lawyer, Irtem's mother went into shock after learning of her daughter's death and was placed under medical supervision.

Funeral to take place in Kusadasi

Irtem's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute after her death and was later handed over to her father, Vural Irtem, following the completion of the procedures.

Her funeral is expected to be held in Kusadasi, a coastal district in Aydin province in western Türkiye. She will be buried at Kusadasi 2nd Yenikoy Cemetery after the funeral prayer at Merkez Hanim Mosque, following the noon prayer, the Islamic midday prayer.

Final remarks draw attention after her death

Following her sudden death, remarks Irtem made during an earlier appearance on the NTV program "Bambaska Sohbetler" (Completely Different Conversations), hosted by Ceyda Duvenci, were widely shared.

Asked where she was heading next, Irtem said she trusted deeply and left everything to God. She said people worried too much as human beings and added that she had come to believe life was about experience, gratitude and love.

"I am letting myself go now," she said.
