Celebrity Turkish restaurateur Nusret Gokce, widely known as “Salt Bae,” has returned to Dubai to oversee his restaurant operations despite rising tensions in the region following Iranian missile activity targeting the city.

His visit comes at a time when some wealthy residents and visitors are reportedly leaving Dubai amid security concerns, spending thousands of dollars on flights out of the city.

Gokce, however, traveled from the United States to Dubai to support his team at his restaurant located on Jumeirah Beach, where he has operated for more than a decade.

Nusret backs Dubai during tensions

Shortly after arriving in the city, Gokce shared videos and messages on social media expressing confidence in Dubai and its stability.

“Nusr-Et was born in Türkiye but became a global brand in Dubai. Our doors are open and the fire is burning. I am here to show my trust in this city and the region,” he said.

In another video message, he added: “I returned home. Great people, wonderful city. We are here together.”

His posts quickly drew attention online, as the broader region faces heightened political and military tensions linked to Iran’s operations.

Dubai central to Nusret’s global brand

Dubai has played an important role in the expansion of Gokce’s international restaurant chain. The city hosts one of the flagship locations of Nusr-Et, which helped transform the brand into a global luxury dining concept.

According to Turkish media reports, Gokce flew from New York to Dubai specifically to support staff and oversee operations at the restaurant during the current period of uncertainty.

While some residents and visitors have reportedly attempted to leave the city due to security concerns, Gokce emphasized that his business remains open and operating.

His appearance in Dubai and the accompanying social media posts quickly circulated online, drawing reactions from followers who noted the contrast between reports of departures from the city and the restaurateur’s decision to return and continue operations.
