A new Turkish art platform has been launched in Amsterdam to bring artists together and strengthen cultural interaction within the Netherlands, according to information shared at an event hosted by the Amsterdam Yunus Emre Institute, a Turkish public foundation focused on cultural diplomacy and language promotion abroad.
The launch event gathered figures from art, culture, and diplomatic circles, including Türkiye’s Ambassador to The Hague, Fatma Ceren Yazgan.
The initiative was introduced as a platform designed not only to host events but also to function as a creative network that helps artists connect, collaborate, and build visibility across disciplines.
In her address, Ambassador Yazgan underlined that language serves as more than a tool for communication and instead acts as a key carrier of culture and art.
She pointed out that Turkish has historically interacted with languages such as Arabic, French, English, and, in more recent centuries, Dutch. This long process of exchange, she noted, has laid the groundwork for today’s multilingual and multicultural artistic production.
Referring to the more than 450-year relationship between Türkiye and the Netherlands, Yazgan highlighted that the past 60 years have added a strong social and cultural dimension to bilateral ties.
She emphasized that artists of Turkish origin raised in the Netherlands represent a versatile generation capable of thinking and producing in both Turkish and Dutch, with this multilingualism standing out as a creative advantage in artistic expression.
The Turkish Art Platform was described as a structure set up to back artistic production, boost visibility, strengthen partnerships, and bring together different artistic disciplines. Rather than operating as a single venue, it aims to work as a lasting network for artists and art lovers alike.
The program also featured a live performance by the music group HarmonEast, while guests had the opportunity to meet artists and representatives from the cultural sector in an informal setting.
