Across Türkiye, temperatures this spring are expected to remain above long-term seasonal averages. Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Sahin Sahbaz, Head of the Analysis and Forecasting Branch at the Meteorology General Directorate, said that a review of three-month seasonal temperature forecasts for March, April, and May indicates a generally warmer-than-normal period.
Sahbaz noted that in March, western and southern regions experienced temperatures slightly above seasonal norms, with rainfall in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions exceeding averages due to recent wet weather systems.
Other parts of the country saw rainfall close to normal levels.
Forecasts for April suggest that temperatures will largely stay near seasonal averages across the country, although western and southern areas are expected to be a few degrees warmer.
In western Central Anatolia and the inner Aegean regions, temperatures are anticipated to be 1 to 2 degrees above seasonal norms.
For May and June, temperatures are generally expected to range 0.5 to 2 degrees above seasonal averages, while rainfall will mostly remain near normal levels.
Some coastal areas of the Aegean and Western Mediterranean may see slightly higher rainfall in April, but the rest of the country is expected to experience average precipitation.
