A table stretching 247.68 meters (812 feet) and loaded with nearly 1,000 regional dishes from all 81 provinces has earned Türkiye a Guinness World Record for the world's largest dinner table, beating a mark Russia had held since 2015.
The "Anatolian Table" was set up during the 8th International GastroAfyon Tourism and Flavor Festival in the western city of Afyonkarahisar. It brought together nearly 1,000 local dishes from across the country in one place.
At 247.68 meters, the table beat a record held by Russia since 2015, when a table measuring 200.47 meters took the title.
Guinness officials inspected the table at the festival before confirming the record.
The certificate was then presented at a ceremony to Afyonkarahisar Gov. Naci Aktas and Mayor Burcu Koksal.
"This record has belonged to Russia since 2015, at 200 meters 47 centimeters," said Seyda Subasi Gemici, the Guinness World Records representative for Türkiye.
She said the provincial governor's office, the municipality and the Professional Chefs Association "brought this record to Türkiye, to Afyonkarahisar."
It is not the first food record for the city. Afyonkarahisar has previously set Guinness records for the longest Turkish delight and the largest sausage-and-egg dish.
