As summer arrives, Bursa's Karacabey coast comes alive—a rare stretch where an unbroken sandy beach, the Marmara Sea and one of Türkiye's largest floodplain forests meet in a single destination.
The Yenikoy-Malkara-Kursunlu coastal belt, stretching for about 22 kilometers (13.67 miles) along the Marmara shoreline, is promoted as one of Türkiye's longest single-piece beach areas.
The region has increasingly drawn holidaymakers looking for sea, sand, camping areas, caravan routes and direct access to nature.
Karacabey's coast stands out not only for its length, but also for the floodplain forest behind it. A longoz, or floodplain forest, is a wetland ecosystem shaped by seasonal water flow, making the area especially attractive for nature lovers as well as beach visitors.
The area welcomes visitors from Bursa, Istanbul, Balikesir and nearby provinces, especially during summer, public holidays and long breaks. According to the information provided, tens of thousands of people visit the region during peak holiday periods.
Karacabey Municipality has completed seasonal work across the coast, including environmental arrangements, picnic areas, beach improvements and infrastructure preparations.
Karacabey Mayor Fatih Karabati said the Yenikoy coastal strip had been prepared for summer, while work would continue in areas where additional needs were identified. He said the municipality had also reached the final stage of improvements in the nearby recreation area.
"Yenikoy is ready for summer and we can welcome those planning a holiday here," Karabati said.
Karabati said visitors would be able to spend their holidays comfortably across Yenikoy, Malkara and Kursunlu, adding that the area offers access to the sea, nature and the floodplain ecosystem in one place.
He also pointed to growing interest in the area, noting that around 400 to 500 independent accommodation units are under construction. According to him, this reflects the rising number of visitors and the region's expanding role in local tourism.
The mayor said the coast's proximity to Istanbul, Balikesir and other nearby provinces has become an important reason for visitors to choose the area. He described the region as a destination where people can find both a quality and relatively affordable holiday option.
Karabati also said the area is especially suitable for campers and caravan travelers because of its natural setting, while interest from both citizens and tourism professionals continues to grow each year.
