The Turkish State Meteorological Service (TSMS) has issued a yellow-coded weather warning for multiple provinces, flagging risks of heavy rainfall, strong winds, avalanches and dust transport across large parts of the country.
According to the latest assessment, most of Türkiye will see cloudy skies and intermittent precipitation, while only a limited number of southeastern provinces are expected to remain dry.
Rainfall will mainly occur as showers, with occasional thunderstorms in some areas, while higher elevations in eastern regions may see a mix of rain and snow.
Conditions are expected to intensify along the Aegean coastline, where localized heavy rainfall could lead to disruptions. Authorities warn that this may trigger flooding, waterlogging, lightning, and temporary transportation issues.
Temperatures nationwide will remain near seasonal averages, maintaining typical early spring conditions.
However, winds are expected to pick up from southern directions, reaching moderate to strong levels in the coastal Aegean and eastern Mediterranean regions. Wind speeds may reach up to 60 kilometers per hour, raising the likelihood of weather-related disruptions.
Inland areas of the eastern Black Sea region and eastern Anatolia face an increased avalanche threat, particularly in steep, snow-covered terrain.
This risk is further heightened by ongoing snowmelt, which can destabilize accumulated snow layers and increase the likelihood of sudden slides.
Meteorological authorities also highlight the possibility of dust transport in the eastern Mediterranean and southeastern regions. This phenomenon refers to airborne dust carried over long distances by wind, which can reduce visibility and impact air quality.
The yellow alert, indicating a potential risk that requires caution, has been issued for the following provinces: Adiyaman, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hakkari, Kahramanmaras, Mardin, Siirt, Sanliurfa, Van, Batman, Sirnak, and Kilis.
In major cities, weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled. Istanbul is forecast to see cloudy skies with intermittent showers and temperatures around 17°C, while Izmir will experience similar conditions with the added risk of locally heavy rainfall. In Ankara, showers are expected to develop around midday under overcast skies, with temperatures near 15°C.
