As Türkiye becomes a sought-after partner in resolving regional and international conflicts, its influence on the global stage is steadily increasing. With the Turkish Armed Forces' growing focus on military diplomacy, the world’s outlook on Türkiye has shifted dramatically. Diplomatic, political, and security sources emphasize that the steps Türkiye has taken in recent years are yielding strong results.
“We have become the center of diplomacy and the peace table,” sources said. “If there is to be any development regarding Ukraine and Russia, it will inevitably start in Istanbul. We are the only country talking to both sides. Europe cannot accept that Russian President Vladimir Putin has won. Why do they come to Ankara every week? Because they also feel the fear. They know Putin has won but cannot admit it.”
Türkiye is the only country fostering stability in the region. “The coming period will bring great opportunities. Israel is trying to create chaos. Greece is not at peace. Nor is Greek Cyprus. We are the only nation striving to generate stability in this region. Any peace table without Türkiye is impossible. Our position is changing—our geostrategic and geopolitical importance grows by the day. We are managing balance in the world and becoming a center of attraction. Our success in Syria, our stance toward Israel, and our position on Ukraine are clear.”
Between 2019 and 2022, not a single foreign warship visited our ports. Now, 10 ships arrive every week—primarily NATO vessels. Soldiers rest, tour the cities, and spend foreign currency.
Local governors host receptions, strengthening bonds. “Warships are diplomatic instruments,” one source explained. “They reflect the level of relations. Ships from Bangladesh, Malaysia, and various European countries now visit our ports.”
The Turkish Armed Forces have recently prioritized military diplomacy and international engagement. Its training missions in Somalia, Azerbaijan, and Libya have drawn global attention. The steady growth of Türkiye’s defense industry is closely followed by other nations. Those seeking to buy our defense products now ask: “Are these systems used by the Turkish Armed Forces?” Naturally, it becomes part of the equation. Many African countries, citing our system in Somalia, are asking us to replicate it in their own territories.
“Senegal requested a maritime patrol aircraft from us,” sources added. “We provided one, as theirs was not operational. These requests stem from the trust placed in the Turkish Armed Forces.”
On Oct. 29, Republic Day, all NATO member states extended their congratulations to Türkiye. “In the past, only NATO Headquarters would send greetings—not its subunits. Now, all of them did,” sources noted. “They even shared the TAF’s annual Aug. 30 Victory Day video on Republic Day. Today, we possess the army that executes the art of war better than anyone else.”
