Egypt is actively collaborating with Türkiye and Pakistan to ease mounting tensions in the region, Egyptian Foreign Minister Bedr Abdulati said during a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the capital Cairo.
Abdulati stated that the diplomatic efforts being carried out in coordination with Türkiye and Pakistan are also aligned with regional parties and international actors, particularly the United States. He noted that messages are being relayed between the involved parties and emphasized that Egypt stands ready to host negotiations if called upon.
"We must work and not be deterred by any disputes," Abdulati said. "We know there are some shortcomings, but that will not prevent us from continuing our efforts and our sincere, diligent work to reduce tensions in the region."
The foreign minister revealed that Egypt is in contact with both Iran and the United States, working to keep the door open for dialogue and negotiation in coordination with regional and international stakeholders. Abdulati expressed hope that direct negotiations between Washington and Tehran would begin, saying such a process would contribute to de-escalation and ultimately help bring an end to the conflict.
Abdulati claimed that a plan prepared by the US side had been conveyed to Iran and is still under review. He added that it was not possible at this stage to publicly discuss the contents of the plan.
He confirmed that Egypt's official communications with Iran are being conducted through Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Erakci, and that efforts to reduce tensions are ongoing through that channel. Abdulati called for reason and restraint in the face of regional developments, stressing that no party benefits from rising tensions.
Abdulati made clear that Egypt has stood alongside Arab nations, particularly Gulf states as well as Jordan and Iraq, from the outset, condemning any attacks directed at those countries. He emphasized that Gulf states are not parties to the current conflicts and that attacks on these nations or their infrastructure are unacceptable under any justification.
The minister said there is no divergence of views between Cairo and the Gulf capitals, adding that Egypt is prepared to offer full support to Gulf nations and remains open to all necessary cooperation in that regard.
Egypt's positioning alongside Türkiye and Pakistan in mediation efforts reflects Cairo's broader strategy of leveraging relationships across multiple axes, maintaining dialogue with both Tehran and Washington while reinforcing solidarity with Gulf allies.
By signaling its willingness to host talks and serve as a conduit for messages, Egypt appears to be seeking a central role in any future negotiation framework aimed at preventing further escalation.
