Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization President Ibrahim Kalin in Munich, Germany, Iraq’s Foreign Ministry said.
According to a statement, Hussein met Kalin at his residence in Munich on Feb. 14, where he was attending the 62nd Munich Security Conference.
The two discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Iraq and Türkiye and reviewed recent developments in the Middle East, the statement said.
It added that the sides “reviewed the latest situation regarding the agreement signed between the Syrian government and the SDF,” expressed satisfaction with the commitment of the relevant parties to implement the agreement’s provisions, and emphasized that this would contribute to regional stability.
Ibrahim Kalin, head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization, also held talks with his foreign counterparts on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, security sources said Saturday.
According to the sources, Kalin discussed bilateral and regional issues including Iran, war-torn Gaza, Syria and North Africa. The meetings also covered intelligence diplomacy, counterterrorism, irregular migration and cybersecurity.
Munich is hosting the 62nd Munich Security Conference from Friday through Sunday under tight security, with diplomats describing the current period as the most turbulent since the end of the Cold War, marked by escalating conflicts and growing uncertainty over the future of the global order.
