Istanbul’s Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that 1,526 suspects have been arrested in terrorism-related investigations since the start of the year.

Authorities have detained 2,922 people across the city as part of ongoing efforts to identify members of various terrorist organizations and uncover their activities.

In a statement, the prosecutor’s office said the investigations targeted groups operating in different parts of Istanbul.

It confirmed that 1,526 of the detained suspects were placed under arrest, while 841 were released under judicial control. Another 55 suspects were released from police custody.

The statement noted that 38% of the suspects who were released provided useful information about organizational structures or individuals after requesting to benefit from provisions on remorse.

The prosecutor’s office said the investigations will continue with determination.
