Some roads in Istanbul's Fatih, Beyoglu and Besiktas districts, all on the city's European side, will be closed to traffic today for the "Yesilay and 78 Event Bicycle Tour."
According to a statement from the Istanbul Provincial Police Department, the Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate will close the affected roads from 10:00 a.m. local time (07:00 +GMT) until the event concludes.
In Fatih, the historic peninsula district bordering the Golden Horn, closures include the Galata Bridge, Kennedy Avenue along the coast between the Catladikapi and Sirkeci traffic lights, and Resadiye, Ragip Gumuspala, Abdulezel Pasa, Murselpasa, Kadir Has and Yavedut avenues.
Drivers can use the Unkapani Bridge, also known as the Ataturk Bridge, along with Millet and Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasa avenues and Ataturk Boulevard as alternatives.
In Beyoglu, located north of the Golden Horn across from Fatih, the closures cover Meclis-i Mebusan, Kemeralti, Tershane and Necatibey avenues, as well as Inonu Avenue between the MKE Building and Sehitler Tepesi.
Tarlabasi Boulevard and Dereboyu, Asker Ocagi, Inonu and Evliya Celebi avenues will serve as alternative routes.
In Besiktas, situated along the Bosphorus north of Beyoglu, traffic flow will be disrupted on Dolmabahce, Ciragan, Eski Yildiz and Besiktas avenues, and on Barbaros Boulevard between the traffic lights near the Merkez Komutanligi.
Drivers in the area will be directed to Palanga, Asariye, and Portakal Yokusu streets.
