Turkish authorities detained nine suspected Daesh members, including a fugitive wanted on an Interpol red notice, during counterterrorism raids in Istanbul on Thursday.
The Istanbul Counterterrorism Branch conducted simultaneous operations targeting individuals with connections to Daesh and conflict zones who were deemed threats to national security, according to officials.
Among those detained was suspect L.Y., who was subject to an Interpol red notice at Tajikistan's request on charges of "being a member of an armed terrorist organization."
The coordinated raids followed intelligence work by security forces to identify the addresses and identities of the suspects.
