Syria's Ministry of Interior forces carried out an operation Friday against the Daesh group east of Aleppo in northern Syria, supported by Turkish helicopters and international coalition forces, according to Al Jazeera.
The source did not provide further details about the operation or clarify its outcome.
Meanwhile, the Sham News Network reported that the international coalition, in coordination with units of the Syrian army and Interior forces, carried out a precise airborne operation at dawn Friday in the city of al-Bab in the eastern Aleppo countryside.
It added that the operation resulted in the killing of four wanted individuals, likely members of Daesh, and the arrest of a senior Iraqi leader of the terrorist group along with several of his companions.
The Sham, citing field sources, reported that the operation began with the imposition of a security cordon around the targeted neighborhoods inside the city, amid intense surveillance drone activity by the international coalition.
The operation was accompanied by loudspeaker calls urging the wanted men to surrender, before limited clashes broke out that left four of them dead and the rest detained, with no casualties among the raiding force, according to the Sham.
The Ministry of Interior has repeatedly affirmed that security agencies continue to carry out operations to monitor and prevent any "terrorist activity," stressing that intensive efforts are ongoing to ensure security and stability across all Syrian regions.
Türkiye's Defense Ministry announced Wednesday that Syria's new government has formally requested military assistance to strengthen its defense capabilities and combat terrorist organizations, particularly Daesh.
"The Syrian administration has officially requested support from Türkiye to strengthen its defense capacity and fight against all terrorist organizations, primarily Daesh," ministry sources said.
"In line with this request, our work continues to provide training, advisory and technical support to increase Syria's defense capacity," the ministry source added.
