The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, announced on his official X (formerly Twitter) account that he held a phone call with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss deepening cooperation between Somalia and Türkiye.

“Tonight, I spoke with H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the phone to discuss Somalia–Türkiye cooperation in energy, the blue economy, and security,” Mohamud wrote.

Türkiye pledges continued support in development, counterterrorism

President Mohamud expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s continued support in Somalia’s development efforts and welcomed its renewed commitment to strengthening military assistance in the country’s fight against terrorism.

Türkiye has become a key strategic partner for Somalia, contributing to infrastructure development, humanitarian aid, and defense cooperation. The two nations are also exploring greater collaboration in maritime and energy sectors as part of a broader effort to ensure regional stability and sustainable growth.
