Air force cadets at the National Defence University’s (MSU) Air Force Academy in Yalova are being trained through intensive programmes to become the pilots of the future.
Cadets at the academy receive internationally recognized undergraduate engineering education, along with military, professional and physical training, over a total of five years, including an English preparatory year.
The engineering courses aim to develop air force officers who understand and can advance the technology behind systems produced with domestic and national resources.
During their time at the academy, cadets receive training in flights on different aircraft types, simulators, parachute jumping, escape, evasion and survival, commando skills and CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense, all aimed at supporting their professional development.
Cadets also travel to units of the Air Force Command in various cities, receiving on-site unit training at those bases.
The training is designed to produce well-rounded air force officers who are academically, professionally and militarily competent.
Cadets who successfully complete all their training graduate from the Air Force Academy with the rank of lieutenant and earn the right to join the 2nd Main Jet Base Command in Izmir’s Cigli district.
