Turkish military cadets put tactical skills to test in Izmir field exercises

Students from the National Defense University (MSU) Army Non-Commissioned Officer Vocational School demonstrated their year-long military training through hands-on exercises in Izmir's Urla district on Tuesday.

During the training, students practiced essential military skills, including marksmanship, obstacle courses, combat formations, scenario-based drills, swimming, and hand-to-hand combat.

Joint training activities also covered firefighting, boat operations, improvised explosive device handling, mine detection and disposal, helicopter familiarization, a Special Forces Command equipment presentation, and training in amphibious and air assault operations.

Held at the MSU Army War College ATAT Regional Command, the camp provided six weeks of training for first-year students and two weeks for second-year students. The training included both male and female domestic students, alongside 143 international military students representing 10 countries.

The training concluded with scenario-based exercises in difficult terrain, allowing trainees to enhance their coordination, decision-making, and operational capabilities ahead of their non-commissioned officer careers.

The platoon commander serving in the student battalion noted that the military training provided during the academic term was reinforced through hands-on activities at the camp.

Stating that the students’ military skills were developed through shooting, training, and sports activities, the platoon commander noted that discipline, loyalty, comradeship, and a sense of belonging form the foundation of the training.
