Well-known Turkish TV commentator Rasim Ozan Kutahyali was arrested on Monday after being detained as part of an illegal betting operation carried out across 21 provinces centered in the southern province of Adana.
Kutahyali was taken into custody within the scope of the investigation targeting an alleged illegal betting network and was later formally arrested.
The operation is part of a broader crackdown coordinated by authorities in Adana against what officials described as a large-scale illegal betting organization.
Last Thursday, police conducted simultaneous raids across 21 provinces, detaining 200 suspects allegedly linked to the network.
Investigations into the organization’s operations and the specific roles of the suspects remain ongoing.
The Adana-based operation involved coordinated raids by police teams in multiple provinces as part of efforts to dismantle the alleged network.
Authorities said the operation targeted a widespread illegal betting structure operating across Türkiye.
Kutahyali was among other high-profile figures detained during the investigation.
No further judicial details regarding the accusations against him were immediately available.
This is not the first time figures from Kutahyali’s television circle have faced scrutiny in illegal betting investigations.
Former referee and TV commentator Ahmet Cakar, who co-hosts a television program with Kutahyali, was also detained in a separate illegal betting investigation in recent months before being released.
Authorities have not indicated any direct connection between the two investigations.
