The Ministry of National Defense addressed the recent U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran and confirmed the interception of an Iranian ballistic missile near the Turkish border during its weekly press briefing.

Calling for an immediate end to conflicts that threaten civilian lives and regional stability, the MSB urged diplomatic dialogue to resolve the ongoing crisis.

Missile intercepted by NATO systems

The ministry provided detailed information regarding the incident that occurred on March 4.

"A ballistic munition, which was detected to have been fired from Iran yesterday, crossing Iraqi and Syrian airspace and heading towards our country, was engaged in time and neutralized in the air by NATO air and missile defense elements deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean," the statement read.

Authorities confirmed that the debris that fell in the Dörtyol district of Hatay belonged to the air defense interceptor missile and that no casualties or injuries were reported.

Right to respond reserved

While emphasizing its commitment to regional peace, the ministry delivered a stern warning regarding the protection of its airspace.

"We reiterate once again that our right to respond to hostile attitudes, regardless of who they come from, is reserved; we are following developments in close coordination with NATO and our other allies," the ministry stressed.

Mass migration rumors denied

Addressing public concerns over a potential refugee influx following the strikes on Iran, the Ministry firmly denied allegations of a massive border crossing.

The ministry urged the public not to rely on "manipulative content" aimed at creating false perceptions, adding that the Turkish Armed Forces have taken all necessary precautions in coordination with relevant state institutions.

Close watch on PJAK in Iran

The Ministry also highlighted the activities of PJAK, the Iranian offshoot of the PKK terrorist organization.

Reaffirming that Türkiye supports the territorial integrity of its neighbors rather than their division, the ministry stated: "The activities of structures that fuel ethnic separatism, such as the terrorist organization PJAK, negatively affect not only the security of Iran but also the general peace and stability of the region."

The ministry added that it is closely monitoring PJAK's movements in coordination with state agencies.
