The investigation was coordinated by the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department (KOM) of the Turkish National Police. Raids were carried out at 16 locations in Edirne, Istanbul, Batman, Mersin, Zonguldak, and Izmir.

The suspects are under investigation for:

  • Establishing and participating in a criminal organization
  • Money laundering of illicit gains
  • Human smuggling

During the raids, authorities seized:

  • Three unlicensed handguns
  • Two unlicensed hunting rifles
  • Two automobiles
  • Numerous passports

Minister Yerlikaya praised the efforts of the Edirne governor, the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, and local police forces for their coordination and successful execution of the operation.

"We remain resolute in our fight against organized crime. No criminal or crime syndicate will go unpunished," he added.
