Türkiye on Friday condemned Israeli strikes targeting military infrastructure in southern Syria, describing them as a “dangerous escalation” and urging international intervention.
“We view Israel's attack targeting military infrastructure in southern Syria as a dangerous escalation and strongly condemn it,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry called on the international community “to stop the Israeli attacks” and assume responsibility to prevent further escalation.
Ankara stressed the importance of implementing the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, which established a ceasefire line between Israeli and Syrian forces.
“Türkiye will continue, as it has done so far, to stand in solidarity with the Syrian government and its people in efforts to establish lasting stability and security in the country on the basis of Syria’s territorial integrity, unity, and sovereignty,” the statement said.
Earlier, the Israeli military said it had struck a command center and weapons depots at military bases belonging to the Syrian government in the south of the country.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry also condemned the strikes, accusing Israel of targeting military infrastructure.
