Turkish gendarmerie forces detained 104 suspects in coordinated operations targeting the Daesh terrorist organization across 30 provinces, the Interior Ministry announced.

The nationwide operations were carried out by provincial gendarmerie commands under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command’s Counterterrorism Department and public prosecutors’ offices.

According to the ministry, the suspects were identified in investigations involving alleged Daesh membership, financing activities and propaganda carried out through social media.

Suspects accused of financing Daesh and spreading propaganda

The Interior Ministry said some of those detained were accused of providing financial support to Daesh through individuals linked to the organization and through entities authorities described as purported aid organizations.

Other suspects were accused of spreading propaganda for Daesh through their social media accounts.

Authorities also identified suspects who were allegedly members of the organization, the ministry said.

Public prosecutors have opened investigations into the 104 suspects following the operations.

The ministry did not provide further details about the individual cases or the provinces where the suspects were detained.

Türkiye vows to continue operations against Daesh networks

In its statement, the Interior Ministry said Türkiye would continue operations targeting both Daesh activities and the organization’s financial structures.

“We continue our operations against the activities and financing structures of the Daesh terrorist organization with determination for the peace and security of our country,” the ministry said.

The ministry also praised the Gendarmerie General Command, its Counterterrorism Department, the public prosecutors’ offices and personnel involved in carrying out the operations.
