Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian will hold bilateral talks in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, both governments confirmed.
According to a statement from the Azerbaijani presidency on Wednesday, the meeting will take place in the United Arab Emirates capital as part of the ongoing peace negotiations between Baku and Yerevan.
Armenia's government also confirmed the meeting in a statement posted on Telegram. The statement said the talks are scheduled during Pashinian's working visit to the UAE.
Pashinian is also expected to meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan later today, according to the same statement.
The peace process between the two countries began following the Second Karabakh War. In March 2025, Azerbaijan and Armenia reached a preliminary agreement on a draft peace treaty.
Baku has stated that the final agreement must include the annulment of references in Armenia’s constitution that dispute Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Azerbaijan also called for the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, describing it as outdated and non-functional.
The last known in-person meeting between the two leaders occurred in May in Tirana, Albania, on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit.
