3 killed in school shooting in Bosnia, attacker critically injured
An armed attack at a school in Sanski Most, Bosnia and Herzegovina, resulted in the deaths of three individuals. The assailant, who inflicted severe injuries upon himself, is currently in critical condition.
The attack occurred at a school in the Una-Sana Canton (USK). The assailant entered the building and opened fire, killing three staff members identified as the school principal, a secretary and a teacher. After the shooting, the attacker turned the weapon on himself, sustaining serious injuries.
USK Police Department spokesperson Adnan Beganovic confirmed that the attacker used an automatic weapon during the incident and then attempted self-harm.
The assailant has been transported to a hospital in Banja Luka for treatment. Beganovic stated that investigators are in the process of collecting evidence to determine the motive behind the attack.
Local media reports indicate that the attacker was employed as a janitor at the school. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the reasons behind this tragic event.
Bosnia and Herzegovina news outlet Klix reports that Nijaz Halilovic, director of the educational institution, along with English teacher Gordana Midzan and school secretary Nisveta Kljunic, were killed.
