At least 51 Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured on Saturday as Israeli air and ground forces launched attacks across multiple locations in the Gaza Strip, including areas sheltering displaced civilians—many of whom were waiting for humanitarian aid at the time of the strikes.
According to Gaza Civil Defense, one of the deadliest incidents occurred near the Yafa School shelter in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City, where an Israeli airstrike killed 8 people, including 5 children and a woman. The strike also left more than 27 others injured.
Another round of Israeli shelling in the same neighborhood reportedly struck a popular market, killing at least 11 people.
Medical sources said two people, including a child, were killed and 12 others wounded when the Adnan Al-Alami School—used as a shelter for displaced families in the northwest of Gaza City—was targeted by Israeli forces.
Other fatal incidents included an airstrike on a home in Jabalia al-Balad that killed two civilians, and another attack east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, where two more were killed while standing in a group. An additional three deaths were reported following a strike on the Al-Saftawi area in northern Gaza City.
In southern Gaza, Israeli troops opened fire on Palestinians gathered near an aid distribution center linked to a joint US-Israeli delivery mechanism in the Netzarim corridor. Medical teams reported that at least 10 people were injured by live ammunition during the incident, which is part of a broader pattern that has drawn growing international concern.
In southern Gaza, strikes continued on civilians waiting for humanitarian aid. 6 people were killed and several wounded in an Israeli airstrike that hit a tent sheltering displaced individuals in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis. The same area saw additional air raids that killed seven more people and left several injured, including members of a displaced family sheltering in a tent.
In Rafah, west of the city, 7 Palestinians were reportedly shot and killed by Israeli forces as they waited for aid. Local medical teams said Israeli troops opened fire on another crowd near a US-Israeli aid distribution site along the Netzarim corridor, injuring at least 10 people with live ammunition.
Since May 27, Israel and the United States have been operating an aid delivery system in Gaza that bypasses the United Nations and other major humanitarian organizations. The system has been criticized by observers and human rights groups, who describe the initiative as a "death trap" due to repeated Israeli attacks on those gathering to receive aid.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, as of Wednesday, at least 549 Palestinians had been killed and more than 4,066 injured at these distribution points.
Elsewhere, Israeli artillery fire at dawn struck two homes in Jabalia, northern Gaza, injuring at least eight more people. In a separate incident, 2 Palestinians were shot and killed while queuing for aid south of Gaza City.
Despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has continued its military campaign in Gaza, which began in October 2023. The death toll now exceeds 56,000 Palestinians, with the majority being women and children, according to local authorities.
In response to the ongoing conflict, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Meanwhile, the International Court of Justice is reviewing a separate genocide case against Israel related to its actions in the enclave.
