Seven more Palestinians, including a child, have died from hunger and malnutrition in the past 24 hours in the Gaza Strip, where Israel's ongoing blockade and closure of border crossings have created famine-like conditions, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
In a written statement, the ministry reported that local hospitals recorded seven new deaths linked to starvation and lack of nutrition, bringing the total number of such fatalities since October 7, 2023, to 154 — including 89 children.
The Israeli blockade, combined with continued military assaults and severe restrictions on humanitarian aid, has pushed Gaza into a deep humanitarian crisis. The densely populated enclave faces acute shortages of food, water, medicine, medical equipment, and hygiene supplies.
Deaths due to hunger are rising, especially among children.
Out of Gaza’s estimated 2.3 million residents, around 2 million have been displaced — many of them multiple times — as a result of Israeli airstrikes and forced evacuation orders.
