Ukraine has asked NATO's Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre, or EADRCC, for support to strengthen its capacity to clear mines and transport explosive ordnance, NATO said.
In a statement, NATO said large amounts of explosive ordnance remain across Ukrainian territory because of the Russia-Ukraine war, posing a serious threat to civilians and critical infrastructure.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service, or DSNS, requested assistance from the EADRCC to expand its capabilities in mine clearance and the transport of explosive materials.
According to NATO, Ukraine requested equipment including TAC-6 tactical bomb disposal suits, tactical ballistic goggles and tactical protective hearing equipment.
The alliance said mine-clearing work is "vital" for Ukraine's recovery and for ensuring the safety of Ukrainian citizens.
Ukraine previously asked the EADRCC for assistance on Oct. 24, 2025, seeking to increase its humanitarian support capacity.
That request included support related to the supply of water, food and fuel.
