Arab parliamentary leaders on Saturday rejected Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Syria, as well as Israeli interference in Somalia, while adopting a separate resolution opposing attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

The positions were announced in the final statement of the eighth conference of the Arab Parliament and speakers of Arab legislative councils and parliaments, held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, according to Egypt's state news agency.

The conference was organized by the Arab Parliament and the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Participants stressed the "unity of the Arab parliamentary position" regarding challenges facing the Arab world and reaffirmed support for efforts to preserve the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Arab states.

Resolution reaffirms support for Palestine

The conference also adopted a parliamentary resolution confronting Israeli policies targeting the Palestinian cause.

The resolution renewed "full support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people" and reaffirmed that Palestine remains "the central cause of the Arab nation."

Another resolution rejected Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Syria, as well as Israeli interference in Somalia.

It also stressed support for the sovereignty, stability and territorial integrity of those countries.

The Arab Parliament includes representatives from legislative bodies across member states of the Arab League.
