Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry condemned an Iranian ballistic missile that entered Turkish airspace, saying the incident poses a serious threat to regional peace and security.

The ministry issued a statement strongly denouncing the missile attack against Türkiye and expressed full solidarity with its ally. "These types of actions constitute a serious threat to regional peace and security and are unacceptable," the Defense Ministry said on X.

"We stand in complete solidarity with our brother Turkish Republic," the statement noted.

Azerbaijan reaffirmed its support for Türkiye's government, its people, and efforts to secure the country's territory. "Azerbaijan stands resolutely by Türkiye," the statement said.

Türkiye's National Defense Ministry (MoND) announced that a ballistic missile fired from Iran and entering Turkish airspace was neutralized by NATO air and missile defense systems based in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Some missile debris fell on empty land in Gaziantep's Sahinbey district, with no casualties or injuries reported.

Türkiye neutralizes an Iranian ballistic missile over Gaziantep

Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran provided details of the incident.

"A ballistic missile fired from Iran and directed at our country was engaged in a timely manner and neutralized by NATO air and missile defense systems in Gaziantep's Sahinbey district airspace," Duran said.

"There were no casualties or injuries in the incident," he noted.

Duran emphasized that all relevant institutions coordinated closely from the outset and activated necessary defense and security measures immediately. The National Defense Ministry and all related units worked in full coordination, he said.

"Türkiye's commitment and capacity regarding the protection of our airspace and border security are at the highest level," Duran stated.

"Preventing further escalation of tension in the region and preventing conflicts from spreading to a wider area is of great importance," he added.

The Turkish MoND reiterated Ankara's commitment to good neighborly relations and regional stability.

"However, we emphasize once again that all necessary steps will be taken resolutely and without hesitation against all types of threats directed at our territory and airspace," the ministry stated.
