The Azerbaijan Army has received its first 155 mm L-45 Dita howitzer, procured from the Czech Republic. Mounted on a Tarta T815 8x8 chassis, this modern howitzer is designed for high operational efficiency.
The Dita howitzer features a fully automated system with only a driver and a commander, aimed at enhancing both firepower and maneuverability.
This acquisition is part of Azerbaijan’s strategy to enhance its defense capabilities and modernize its military equipment. Following its victory in the Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijan expects to incorporate this howitzer into its arsenal to strengthen its deterrence capabilities.
Under the agreement with Czech defense company Excalibur Army, Azerbaijan will receive over 70 units of the 155 mm/L45 Dita howitzer. This is the largest order for Czech or Slovak artillery systems since 1989.
In addition, Azerbaijan has recently announced plans to acquire 48 units of the 155 mm Nora howitzer from Slovakia. The Dita howitzers will complement Azerbaijan’s existing artillery inventory, which includes the 122 mm 2S1 Gvozdika, 152 mm 2S3 Akatsiya, 152 mm 2S19 Msta-S, and 152 mm Dana-M1M self-propelled howitzers, significantly boosting its artillery capabilities.
