A civilian was killed by sniper fire near the eastern Syrian city of Deyr Hafer in Aleppo province, according to reports from Syrian state media and Turkish sources.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that a civilian was shot by a sniper near Rasim Imam Village in the vicinity of Deyr Hafer on Friday. Turkish sources identified the shooter as belonging to forces they describe as the PKK/YPG, which operates under the name SDF in Syria.
According to the reports, sniper fire targeted civilian residential areas around Rasim Imam Village in territory held by the SDF.
Türkiye designates the PKK/YPG as a terrorist organization and maintains that the group's Syrian wing operates as part of the broader PKK network, which has waged an insurgency against the Turkish state for decades.
