Iranian media reported that a U.S.-Israel airstrike in Tehran targeted the former U.S. embassy compound, known locally as the “Den of Espionage,” located on Taleghani Street in the Iranian capital.
According to the semi-official Mehr News Agency, the attack hit the site during ongoing strikes on Tehran, with reports indicating that shops surrounding the former embassy building were damaged.
Footage published in Iranian media showed smoke rising from the embassy compound and nearby areas following the strike.
The former U.S. embassy in Tehran was seized on Nov. 4, 1979, by Iranian student groups after the Iranian Revolution and has since been used as a museum.
The reported strike comes amid continued air attacks on Tehran as part of the broader conflict involving Iran, the U.S. and Israel.
Regional escalation has continued to flare since the U.S. and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing so far over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
