A critical meeting on the future of a proposed International Stability Force (ISF) for Gaza is set to take place in Doha as part of preparations for a planned second phase of the Gaza process.
According to Reuters, the talks will focus on the structure, authorities and command chain of the force, which is envisioned as an international mechanism to provide stability in Gaza.
More than 25 countries are expected to send representatives to the meeting.
Sessions are expected to be held with the participation of the guarantor countries of the peace plan, the United States, Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye, with discussions centering on the command structure of the Gaza force and related operational issues.
National Intelligence Organization (MIT) President Ibrahim Kalin is also expected to attend the conference in Doha, according to the sources.
Under the plan outlined by U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli forces would withdraw from areas they currently occupy as the international force gradually assumes control on the ground.
The U.N. Security Council, in a decision adopted on Nov. 17, authorized the establishment of a “Peace Council” and the International Stability Force to support the implementation of the plan.
Sources said Israel has strongly objected to Türkiye’s inclusion in the military dimension of the force.
Despite these objections, the United States is said to be insisting that Türkiye participate in the Doha talks and that Turkish troops be included in the Gaza stability force.
Sources also said Hamas has identified the participation of the Turkish military within the ISF as one of its main conditions for disarmament.
