At least 46 Palestinians, including children, entire families, and journalists, were killed in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, as Tel Aviv continues to reject growing international calls for a ceasefire.

The latest strikes came just hours after the United States vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire. Despite growing international appeals, Israel has maintained its military campaign in Gaza since October 2023.

Widespread strikes across southern and northern Gaza

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing medical sources, reported that five members of a single family—a husband, wife, and their three children—were killed in an Israeli strike in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. A drone strike on a nearby tent sheltering displaced civilians killed at least six more people.

Additional casualties were reported in Bani Suhaila, where four people died in an air raid, and ten others were killed in separate Israeli strikes throughout Khan Younis, according to local sources. A charity vehicle was also targeted by Israeli warplanes, killing two civilians.

In central Gaza, a girl was killed and several others injured when Israeli forces shelled a home in Deir al-Balah.

Attacks also intensified in northern Gaza, where a pregnant woman was among two Palestinians killed in Jabalia. Rescue teams recovered three more bodies from rubble in the same town. In Beit Lahia, three Palestinians were killed in a combination of artillery and aerial attacks.

Journalists and children among the dead in Gaza City

Three journalists lost their lives in a drone strike that hit the grounds of Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, bringing the total number of journalists killed since October 2023 to 225, according to Gaza’s government media office.

In southern Gaza City, three civilians, including two children, were killed in strikes on residential homes. Another drone strike in the city’s west targeted a group of displaced civilians, killing four more people.

UN says over 640,000 Palestinians were displaced

The United Nations warned Thursday that Israeli military evacuation orders have forced over 640,000 Palestinians to flee since March alone, with nearly one-third of Gaza’s population now subjected to repeated displacement. Humanitarian agencies have raised concerns over the lack of safe zones and the mounting toll on civilians forced to move multiple times under increasingly dire conditions.

Mounting civilian toll reaches 54,700

According to Palestinian health authorities, nearly 54,700 people have been killed since the beginning of the conflict, the majority of whom were women and children.

In November 2023, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Separately, Israel is also facing genocide allegations at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the besieged enclave.
