President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Israel’s actions are driving the region toward disaster, warning of a destructive war spreading across the Middle East.

Speaking at the Presidential Complex in Ankara during the “Iftar Program with Journalists and Writers,” Erdogan said Israel is carrying out attacks not only in Gaza but also in Yemen, Lebanon and Iran.

“(Israel) is a network that has gained power, sees itself superior to others, and is dragging our region step by step into disaster,” Erdogan said.

He added that the attacks are not solely about security, saying: “We all know that the purpose of attacks targeting Gaza, then Yemen and Lebanon, and finally Iran is not only security.”

Erdogan also said Israel has kept Al-Aqsa Mosque closed to Muslim worshippers for 17 days “without any authority and for arbitrary reasons.”

He said the war in the region, led by Israel, has resulted in civilians being killed and people being forced to leave lands they have lived on for centuries.

Calls to highlight war realities globally

Erdogan said the global system established after World War II is experiencing a historic turning point and stressed the need to present realities to the international public.

He said narratives ranging from “promised lands” to “apocalypse scenarios” are being raised alongside ongoing attacks, adding that this is not a coincidence.

Erdogan called for greater international media reach, saying Türkiye should expand its influence and ensure that the realities of the war are communicated worldwide.

“It is important to break away from imposed agendas and explain all these realities, this barbarity and this state of madness to the whole world in a way that resonates,” he said.
