Fireworks light up the sky around the Eiffel Tower during a choreographed display featuring fireworks and drones in Paris on Monday.
The event took place on the eve of the annual Bastille Day military parade, drawing large crowds to the French capital.
Bastille Day, July 14, commemorates the 1789 Storming of the Bastille, a pivotal moment in the French Revolution when citizens overthrew a notorious royal prison, symbolizing the end of absolute monarchy and the dawn of modern French democracy.
The drones projected “Liberte, egalite, fraternite” (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity) in the sky. It is the central slogan of the French Revolution of 1789 and the official national motto of the modern French Republic, as enshrined at the Elysee Palace.
The display featured synchronized fireworks and drone formations around one of France's most iconic landmarks.
In addition, world-famous landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty were projected as part of the drone show.
Many people took to the streets to watch the show leading up to the official ceremony.
Bastille Day will also host the semifinal clash France-Spain match at the World Cup.
When asked about this match, a fan said, “Personally, I can't imagine the French team losing on July 14th,” in downtown Dallas.
