Hamas said Sunday that it has received the list of Gaza detainees held in Israeli prisons as part of the cease-fire agreement and prisoner-exchange deal mediated between the Palestinian resistance and Israel.
The movement said the list includes 1,468 detainees from the Gaza Strip arrested after Oct. 7, 2023, with 11 names still under review.
The Hamas-run Prisoners’ Information Office announced on Sunday that the movement has received the list of Gaza detainees held in Israeli prisons as part of the cease-fire agreement and prisoner-exchange deal mediated between the Palestinian resistance and Israel.
In a statement circulated to the media, the office said the list delivered to the Palestinian factions includes 1,468 names of detainees from the Gaza Strip who were arrested after Oct. 7, 2023.
It added that the list has been reviewed and cross-checked with the relevant authorities, confirming the status of all names except for 11 cases that are still being investigated.
The office said several obstacles had prevented the official release of the Gaza detainees list in recent weeks, citing Israel’s delays, obstruction and manipulation of the names. It stressed that extensive efforts were made to verify the list.
The Prisoners’ Information Office asserted that Israel “bears full responsibility for the lives of all detainees and prisoners, and for any tampering or discrepancies in the list.”
It added that Israel “continues to forcibly conceal additional names and numbers of detainees in its prisons and detention centers and has so far refused to disclose them.”
The office called on mediators to “exert pressure on Israel to disclose all detainees and prisoners, ensure their health and humanitarian rights, and halt the grave violations of international laws and norms committed against them by the occupying forces.”
For nearly two years of Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip, the fate of hundreds of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons remained concealed—particularly those from the Palestinian resistance who took part in the Oct. 7, 2023, attack.
Many families had no information about their relatives amid major discrepancies in reports labeling them as fallen or missing, as Israel repeatedly refused to disclose these details or release the list of Gaza detainees it holds in its prisons.
